Finding myself trying to defend a spurious claim and not knowing how to do so and in a proper manner, I knew I had to get legal advice; but was it worth the cost given what I knew of local solicitors time taken and their fees.

 

Being a pensioner, this was a significant consideration. However, my stubbornness and pride won the day, so I decided to go online and see if I could find any help there. It did not take me long to be put in touch with a James, and I was immediately impressed by his friendliness, calmness and obvious interest in my problem.

 

He explained what he could do and what his initial costs would be, and that I could then decide whether I wished to proceed with him - this was a no-brainer. I was going to receive advice straight away and for a fraction of what I would pay locally.


One of the best decisions I have made. I immediately felt a lot less stressed. I sent papers and documents for James to consider, and he returned a full explanation of them and fully argued proposals for the way forward within 24 hours.


When the case was heard by a Judge I did not feel stressed - to my surprise I actually felt quite confident, so well briefed had I been by James about my preparation and presentation. I am currently awaiting a copy of the Judgement.

The service and support by Jim has been outstanding, the response times to many legal questions,was so fast compared to the conventional route, i.e. make an appointment with your solicitor etc etc.

 

Over the Christmas period of 2023 where it would probably take me a week to get a response from my own solicitor Jim had answered all my questions and more with a 20mins call within 24 hours.

 

The matter in question was to do with an unscrupulous, builder, it was an extremely stressful, situation where information I was very clearly made of my consumer rights by Jim.

 

The follow-up calls with care and attention were commendable. In short, I can highly recommend this as a resource to use when legal advice is required. All at a price that is not going to break your bank.

Quite simply Ant’s calm but bullish composure kept me going through one of the most stressful weeks we’d ever had.

We moved out of our house last Sunday and had rented short term accommodation so that we had somewhere to live while the work started on our new house.  On August 2nd we were sent details with pictures of a light 3 bedroom apartment complete with wooden floors and Super King Size beds, we were invited to ‘enjoy their onsite restaurant’, or pick up supplies at their shop.  It looked great and we booked and paid the full fee of £20,000 because we were told we had to pay in full upfront.  They did try to stop us paying with a credit card but I refused and they eventually agreed (and thank goodness for that).

 

When we arrived at the apartment on Sunday it was absolutely nothing like the one in the picture.  It was rundown, smelt of damp, cheap carpets everywhere and small beds that sent my allergies crazy and on top of that no restaurant, no shop, the description was literally nothing like the ad we had been sold.

 

The agent, London Serviced Apartments refused to do anything about it, the owner was a bully, very cutting, my communications with him left me feeling vulnerable.  Which is why if Ant hadn’t got involved I would probably have been worn down and still there.

 

I called Ant through Law Clinic, immediately his scouse accent put me at ease and then he relayed details of 3 laws that had been broken and how I was protected.  The agent at LSA became more and more erratic, he started to blame the fact that I hadn’t actually verbally or in writing expressed the need for a big bed, restaurant and shop and therefore wasn’t due to get one.

 

Now, I could and was in the process of going through the credit card company to retract the money but (a) it woud have taken at least two weeks and (b) I didn’t like being bullied and deceived, I wanted some form of justice.  

 

So Ant wrote a letter that would come from me outlining all of the laws that had been broken.  Ant’s plan was to ensure I pay as little money out as possible to get a successful conclusion.  We hoped that the letter would sort that but sadly not, the agent still argued it.  At that point Ant offered to have a conversation with him.  Finally, whatever Ant said he rattled the agent enough that 4 days after Ant got involved we got upgraded to the apartment we thought we had bought.  This had been an option that was categorically written off at the beginning of the week.

 

There is absolutely no way this would have been done without Ant’s input in that time frame.  He was also reassuring and kept me going.  He emailed me out of hours.  I believe he really wanted to solve my problem.  

 

So the lesson is, don’t let big corporations bully silence you, there are people who can help and that’s why I’ll be referring Ant to anyone in a tight spot.

I had just been mis-sold a fully restored Citroen HY Van a week ago & breaking down in it, 97 miles from home was really upsetting. 

 

I had weekend of uncertainty & the Dutch Garage I imported her from left me high & dry. 

 

Then I found Jim at Law Clinic & was immediately reassured that I had consumer rights & that I’d not been foolish to buy from, what looked like a reputable classic car dealer. 

 

I discussed my three main issues with the vehicle & all the extra costs I’d incurred like shipping, transportation to the port, insurance & VAT etc.

All of which Jim captured with swift & total accuracy. 

 

A modest fee, got me a formal letter rejecting the goods & all the costs & timeline of events captured perfectly, & I’ve been able to email this to the dealer in the hope of avoiding court proceedings. 

 

Working with Jim at Law Clinic has been a game changer this week, & I can sleep at night knowing I’ll get this expensive situation resolved. I can’t recommend the service they provide enough. 

 

I’m very much bolstered by the information I received & even if my letter doesn’t work immediately, knowing there’s more that Jim & Law Clinic can do in these circumstances has given me the confidence not to catastrophise. 

 

I’d definitely use the service again & my friend’s have been impressed with the support I’ve received too.
